Welcome to PiXL Post 16
Supporting sixth form schools and colleges at Key Stage 5
We believe that post-16 is really important for a number of reasons and the leadership of post-16 is especially crucial for the life chances and outcomes of students. The PiXL Post 16 RSL has different challenges to RSLs in other key stages, which is why we offer a vast range of support, encouragement and resources. Here are just some of the ways we support schools and colleges:
- Specialist support is available – if you and your team want to implement a PiXL strategy or have some expertise around a specific area like leadership, teaching and learning or curriculum, then you can book an appointment with someone who can help you in your context.
- Strategies and resources to address the big areas that need attention. Some examples of the topics for which we have produced strategies and leadership guides include: reducing U grades, managing an effective common room, disciplinary literacy, academic reading, transition and induction from KS4, transition into the world of work or further education, financial education, oracy, or examiner report feedback and updates – we have it all for you to take, edit and implement. Specialists will be able to support you or your staff in how to best implement these or other strategies to suit your context.
- Three National Conferences each year, giving you the most up-to-date information around post-16 education and innovative intelligence-led leadership thinking.
- Online interactive collaboration networks around the biggest challenges and issues in post-16 education as we seek to collectively problem-solve and unpick the barriers to improving outcomes and life chances.
- The School of PiXL Leadership courses are aimed at people in different roles: there are Raising Standards Leader courses, two courses for middle/subject leaders (new and experienced), as well as one for your pastoral team. All of them are focused on practical ways of improving life chances and outcomes in the role that you are in.
- Access to Pupil Progress trackers for A-level English and maths (all qualifications and all boards) for real-time, accurate progress analysis and to benchmark your cohort against thousands of students across the PiXL partnership. Resources to help with misconceptions and gaps follow throughout the year as needs arise. Trackers are also available for GCSE resit English and maths (all boards). All free as part of your membership!
- Discounted membership prices for our Autumn subject conferences for English, maths and science.
The best way to experience what being part of PiXL is like is to attend our next PiXL Post 16 National Conference as a guest. Email membership@pixl.org.uk to arrange your attendance at the next one as a guest school.
